Program tour

DAY 1. KUTAISI

Meeting at the airport of Kutaisi. We will start our fascinating journey through Georgia accompanied by a guide with an introduction to the historical center of Kutaisi, a city of extraordinary beauty in western Georgia, located on two banks of the Rioni River. Arriving in Kutaisi, you find yourself in a corner of the ancient history of this hospitable country. Kutaisi is one of the most ancient cities in the world. The first memos confirming its existence date back to the 6th century BC.

We will see the visiting card of the city - the Bagrat Temple, which is one of the best examples of late medieval architecture, built in the X-XI centuries, during the reign of the Georgian king Bagrat III - the founder of the great family of princes Bagrationi. This magnificent cathedral rises above Kutaisi, and it can be seen from anywhere in the city.

Next, we will visit the Gelati Monastery, which for a long time was the cultural and educational center of Georgia, with its own academy. Among the teachers and graduates of the academy there were many famous philosophers, theological scholars, speakers and translators.

Check in a hotel. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Kutaisi.
The distance of the route is about 45 kilometers.

DAY 2. TBILISI

Breakfast, transfer to Tbilisi.
Walking tour in Tbilisi. We begin our journey at the famous Metekhi temple, from where a picturesque view of the Kura River (Mtkvari) opens to the old part of Tbilisi, to the amazing, bizarre shape of the glass “Peace Bridge” that was built in Tbilisi in 2009 and of course to the Narikala fortress. Rising the cable car to the Mother of Georgia monument gives us a magnificent view of the whole Tbilisi. Descending from there you can make wonderful photos of the central part of the old city from a bird's eye view. Next we get to Narikala, a fortress complex. The exact time of the foundation of the fortress in Tbilisi is unknown, but in the VII century it was already the main defensive structure of the city. Coming down from Narikala, we will definitely look into the sulfur baths, in which Pushkin and Lermontov took bathing. We will walk along the famous pedestrian street Chardin, which is famous for the huge number of open cafes and bars, oriental hookahs, restaurants of European, oriental and of course national Georgian cuisine.

Welcome dinner in national cuisine restaurant.
Overnight at hotel Tbilisi.

The distance of the route is about 240 kilometers.

DAY 3. GEORGIAN MILITARY ROAD, GERGETI, SNO

After breakfast, we will go through the high gorges along the turbulent rivers to the Kazbegi region with an ascent to Gergeti church (2200 m) at the foot of Mount Kazbek (5047 m), which rightfully occupies one of the best places for photo sessions from Georgia. On the way, we will stop at the Ananuri Fortress-Monastery, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, climb onto its towers, and remember the view of the turquoise expanse of the mountain Zhinvali lake surrounded by velvet mountains.

Then we will go to the still little-known valley of SSS, where we will see unique sculptures of famous Georgian writers and poets carved from stone. The village of Sno is known primarily for the fact that the current Patriarch of All Georgia, Catholicos Ilia II, was born here.

Here we can also climb the Sno castle of the same name, built at the turn of the 16th-17th centuries, which occupies a special place among Georgian defensive structures. From here we can take stunning pictures with a view of the majestic Kazbek!

Return to Tbilisi. Dinner at the hotel.

The distance of the route is about 320 kilometers.

DAY 4. SIGNAGHI, LAGODEKHI

This day Lagodekhi National Park awaits us - a rare and beautiful corner of wild primeval nature, most of which is covered by forests, alpine and subalpine meadows, as well as various reservoirs (many rivers, springs, lakes and more than thirty waterfalls). But first, we will taste the local wine in the city of Lagodekhi, eat local bread and cheese, which will provide enough energy for a further forest walk.

We will go along the forest road to the Shromi waterfall, the path first goes along one bank of the Shromishkhevi River, and after a kilometer and a half goes to the other, and we find ourselves in a narrow mountain gorge. There is a path that climbs up the mountainside, then descends into the gorge, to the very bed of the river. Around there is a magnificent forest, centuries-old trees with lianas hanging to the ground, dense thickets of bushes, wild flowers. A lot of springs and hydrogen sulfide sources, which impersonate a characteristic smell of sulfur. The waterfall is not very high, it’s about 5-6 meters, but the impressions of this acquaintance with the Lagodekhi nature will be bright enough to remain in memory for many years.

Walking takes 3-5 hours, difficulty is average.
On the way back we will drop into the city of love - Sighnaghi, located on the side of a mountain in the historical region of Kakheti. This is the only city in Georgia that has completely preserved the fortress walls, lined with watch towers, which you can climb to enjoy magnificent views of the Alazani Valley.

And you will definitely hear a story why Sighnaghi is called the “city of love."

Here we are waiting for an immersion in the Georgian atmosphere in a colorful village house, where we will see how to this day peasants grow grapes and make wine from it according to centuries-old traditions. You will relax at a table in a Georgian family with national dishes and with home-made wine, as well as make your own Georgian snickers - churchkhela, and fragrant Georgian bread - shoti!
